Handmade Authenticity

Why Handmade Products are So Special

When I started making handbags it was in the middle of the first wave of the pandemic and I was hoping to sell something online without personal contact. I have been making clothing for years but I wanted to do something completely different and I was lucky enough to be able to start my AMIE Handbag Range.

I was very fortunate that my bags were received so well by the public. I love making them, I love seeing an idea brought to life and for it to be appreciated by others. My bags are made right here in my home by myself. I do not sell mass-produced items and when you buy my products you can be sure that you will have an item that is a limited edition. My fabrics have limited stock and sells out quickly so if you see something you like, best to order it while it's there. Making something without a factory of employees takes time and I give each item the attention it deserves.

I wanted to expand on the accessories and that's how the handknitted scarves came to be. These scarves are not machine made in China but are handknitted out of the finest wool by my mother-in-law. Anyone who has ever attempted knitting knows how time consuming it can be and I am so lucky to have a mother-in-law that loves knitting as much as I love sewing.

Having something handmade is special because it was made with the utmost care and attention. A person that makes something by hand is an artist who prides themselves in their finished product. We should encourage handmade items and I know that my clients love having something special like that.

Please support any items made by hand as it is a dying craft. We should encourage the authenticity of something made by a human hand.
